Vabianna Santos’ work has been described as terrifying, meditative, earnest and utterly lucid.
She has exhibited and performed nationally, showing at MOCA North Miami, Vox Populi, and Headlands Center for the Arts. Her work has been reviewed in WhiteHot Magazine of Contemporary Art. She attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2013.
Her work manipulates sensory reactions through systems of display and seductive materiality. She indulges in willful contradiction- constructing refined visual paradoxes while crassly adapting metaphysical themes. The work re-imagines social interactions to question how we perform empathy and power.
